NEW!! The NI myDAQ & NTS Press textbook bundle is now available for students only in the U.S. and Canada. It includes the NI myDAQ hardware and Circuits (Second Printing) by Fawwaz Ulaby and Michel Maharbiz. To order: http://www.studica.com/us/en/National-Instruments/ni-mydaq.html

Product Description:

NI myDAQ Hardware

Designed for hands-on experimentation outside the traditional lab, NI myDAQ combines portability with a comprehensive set of features. NI myDAQ allows for real engineering and, when combined with NI LabVIEW and Multisim, gives students the power to prototype systems and analyze circuits outside of the lecture and lab. The NI myDAQ full student option includes the NI myDAQ hardware, all the required cables and drivers, as well as student editions of NI LabVIEW, NI Multisim and NI Ultiboard. To learn more: http://www.ni.com/mydaq/

The Circuits Textbook

This widely adopted work conveys a set of timeless principles and problem solving techniques, but also provides a valuable framework for subsequent studies. As circuits theory is traditionally the entry course into electrical and computer engineering, the book offers a wide-ranging and inspiring vision of the profession.

The text includes many examples and exercises showing how to apply the Multisim software to the study of circuits. The CD contents also include solutions to all in-chapter exercises, as well as step-by-step examples and additional exercises with solutions. To learn more: http://www.ntspress.com/publications/circuits/

Also available is a set of 40 NI myDAQ and Multisim problems. These problems are designed for three-way solution: analytical, simulation, and measurement. The problems are organized four per chapter for Chapters 2 through 11 from Circuits. The table of contents indicates the associated section number from the textbook in parentheses. Each problem contains the problem statement and sufficient detail to guide the reader through the simulation and physical measurement steps. Short video tutorials are linked to each problem to provide detailed guidance on Multisim techniques and ELVISmx computer-based instruments for the myDAQ. This document is fully hyperlinked for section and figure references, and all video links are live hyperlinks.
Instructors who have adopted CIRCUITS for their classes offer feedback about the book

Some comments from instructors who have used Circuits by Ulaby and Maharbiz:

“We are just finishing up our first semester with the Ulaby book. The semester went fairly smoothly and the students liked the book. Overall, I liked the pace of the topics and I liked the inclusion of topics such as transistors, transmission lines, power supplies, and the like, which were not covered in most of our previous textbooks. And we made fairly reasonable use of Multisim, especially for the first time use of the textbook.”
Frank Merat, Case Western Reserve

“Our students are liking the book; the improvement in their learning process is very noticeable. I certainly plan to use this book during the next semester too.”
Philip Serafim, Northeastern

“I really enjoyed using this book. In the course evaluations, a number of students actually mentioned that they liked the book (which NEVER happened with our old book).”
David Salvia, Penn State

“Of all the circuits books available on the market, this is by far my favorite. Aside from the obvious benefits of this book, such as the low cost and the copy of Multisim, what I like most about the book is that it seems to be written with a great concern for student learning. Every example is thoroughly presented and explained in the text. In addition, not only are there practice exercises at the end of each section, but the student has full access to the complete solutions on the accompanying CD. As a professor who teaches lots of students, this makes my job a lot easier, because the students are able to learn more of the material on their own. And, having their own copy of Multisim is like having a built-in lab on their computer. The only thing that could make this book better is for the authors to come and teach my class!”
Todd DeLong, Virginia Commonwealth University
