Introduction to LabVIEW Programming

Stephen J. Chapman

Computer programming is a fundamental skill that every engineering and science student must master early in their education. Effective approaches to teaching the topic expose students to a modern variety of programming approaches and languages.
This book introduces students to National Instruments LabVIEW, a software development tool in which students can learn multiple programming paradigms in a single environment. With LabVIEW, students can work with text-based programming, graphical programming or a combination of the two. In doing so, they can choose the most effective syntax for algorithm development, model exploration, data analysis and other technical computing tasks.

Readers will start by learning the basics of programming and good programming practice by working with the NI LabVIEW MathScript RT Module. MathScript RT is the textual programming component of LabVIEW that is generally compatible with m-file script syntax used by The MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB® software, INRIA SciLab software and others.

Readers will also explore system-level design using graphical programming (“G”) and learn ways to integrate textual and graphical programming.
